2024 年 3 月 mafmadmaf 根據梁紹基先生影像作品《沉沉海平線》,創作為時 45 分鐘的聲音作品,並於同年 3 月 30 日,在深圳海上世界文化藝術中心梁紹基先生個展「海溟溟」現場進行演奏。maf 的聲音創作緊密圍繞梁先生的影像及其個展主題,通過對梁先生雕塑作品中的標誌性素材的解構和提煉,如海洋、蠶絲、鋼鐵、沙、網狀物等,以聲景構圖的方式將聲音元素進行排列,通過大面積的聲音顆粒層次製造出如鐵鏽般粗礪、如海洋般寬廣的包裹感,再於其中隱藏不規則的針尖和鎖鏈。聲音隨著影像海與天分界線變化而展開,向觀眾逐步揭開平緩海面底下的暗礁和漩渦。就像風暴將黃沙吹走露出其掩埋的巨大的鐵鏈,失去緩衝的鐵鏈開始相互碰撞、轟鳴,不時迸發出星星點點的火花。
得益於展覽現場的空間設計,使聲音的包裹感進一步強化。聲音演出區域設置在通頂的弧形幕牆前,幕牆播放的是梁先生的影像作品《沉沉海平線》,觀眾落座於弧形的中心。特殊的空間設計和聆聽位置大大增加了立體聲音的環繞感,同時亦是一個不小的挑戰。秉持其實驗精神,maf 和工作人員一起進行了多次測試,最終創造了獨屬於當下時空的視聽體驗。

In 2024, mafmadmaf created a 45-minute sound work in response to Liang Shaoji's video piece Heavy Sea Horizon. The work was performed live on March 30 at Liang Shaoji: Sea of the Cloud, the artist's solo exhibition at the Sea World Culture and Arts Center (SWCAC), Shenzhen.
The composition deconstructed materials central to Liang's practice — ocean, silk, steel, sand, and woven structures—rearranging them through layers of sonic grains. These produced textures at once coarse like rusted iron and expansive like the sea, within which sharp accents of metallic chains and needle-like sounds surfaced. In dialogue with the shifting horizon in Liang's film, the sound gradually revealed turbulence beneath a calm surface, evoking hidden reefs, whirlpools, and storm-swept chains colliding in thunderous resonance.
The exhibition space amplified this immersive quality: the performance was staged before a curved floor-to-ceiling screen, with the audience seated in its center. This spatial design enhanced the sense of surround sound while posing acoustic challenges. Through repeated testing and adaptation, mafmadmaf and the team created a singular, site-specific audiovisual encounter — an experience both elemental and unrepeatable.
